Timer: times each race. There will be two timers per lane. One from each team. We provide
stopwatches.
Concession: teams up with the concession chairpersons in the clubhouse. Helps take orders,
fills orders, and grills if needed. First shift should help set up, please plan to be in the clubhouse
when your swimmer arrives for warmups. Second shift should help clean up at the end of the
meet.
Stroke and Turn: this is a certified position. There will be two judges at both ends of the pool to
make sure swimmers are doing the strokes legally. Judges are required to disqualify swimmers
in the event their stroke is not legal. This position is not for the faint at heart.
Bullpen: find swimmers for their upcoming events. We will ask swimmers to stay in our
designated team area to make this easier. Junior coaches will also help. Send swimmers over to
the staging area. Heat sheets will be given to the bullpen volunteers.
Stagers: there will be benches or chairs lined up in the staging area so that swimmers can be
lined up. We usually stage 4 events deep. Stagers will have a heat sheet and make sure
swimmers are lined up in the right lane. Coaches will also help.
Set up: Arrive at 3:30 to get the pool ready. Heavy lifting required. Pool chairs moved, starting
blocks set up.
Clean up: stays until after the meet is over. Return pool deck back to normal. Heavy lifting
required.
Ribbons: place stickers on ribbons in the clubhouse. The computer will print out labels and
stickers are to be placed on the correct ribbon. Ribbons to be filed under the swimmer’s name in
the ribbon box.
Runner: T akes heat sheets from timers after the events, sends them up to the computer person
in the clubhouse. Lots of quick walking required.
Time verification: sit by the computer person at away meets and double check that the time
they entered in the computer is correct. Usually inside and air conditioned.
Computer: training required. Inside the clubhouse during the meet. Reach out if interested.
